ASC + Crossroads

ASC and Crossroads have set the monumental goal of raising $400,000 (net) to fund four unique, but equally important initiatives. Every dollar donated through ASC goes directly to Crossroads Community Services. Please consider joining us this year in making Dallas-Fort Worth a more equitable and food-secure region.

Nutrition Pharmacy

Estimated Cost: $200,000

Partners UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), Parkland Health, and Children’s Health will pre-screen patients at their RedBird facilities for food security and provide referrals, or Food Prescriptions, for groceries for the entire household — including fresh produce — that they can use at Crossroads’ satellite Market, just a few steps away. The Culinary Director will oversee the Nutrition Pharmacy’s development, in addition to a Program Manager, a Community Health Worker, and daily volunteers. Food navigation will help patients/shoppers choose appropriate foods based on their health needs. Crossroads’ From Food to Finance (F3) partner WiNGS will share space at the RedBird Market, offering financial coaching to F3 participants, and Harmony CDC will provide counseling services.

Culinary Medicine Teaching (Commercial) Kitchen

Estimated Cost: $100,000

Crossroads’ Commercial Kitchen is where Food will become Medicine. We know setting the table starts in the Kitchen, and Crossroads wants to utilize its Kitchen to change the tables in its community by teaching shoppers how to prepare healthy meals with culturally relevant recipes. This new service model builds on Crossroads’ strategic direction to increase access to convenient, nutritious options and teach families to prepare healthy plates. In partnership with the shoppers' healthcare plan, Crossroads will integrate nutrition education to inspire healthy eating habits, strengthening families and changing communities one household at a time.

Refrigerated Van

Estimated Cost: $75,000

The Market inside RedBird Mall will carry a separate food inventory for referred patients. The van will be used to transport inventory from Crossroads’ main campus on Cockrell Hill Road to the Market in RedBird Mall throughout the day and week.

Children's Play Market

Estimated Cost: $25,000

Crossroads sees up to 15,000 households per year through its Market, and many shoppers choose to bring the whole family. Crossroads wants to create a safe, designated area for children to play while their caregivers shop.
