ASC 2009 LUNCHEON:
Friday, June 5th at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, Grand Ballroom, Dallas
Antwone Quenton Fisher was born in prison to a teenaged mother. He became a ward of the state of Ohio and was placed in foster care immediately. He spent two years in a loving foster home, but when it was apparent that the foster mother had become too attached to Antwone, deeming a reunion with his birth mother too difficult for the child, he was placed in a foster home where he would suffer twelve years of abuse at the hands of the foster family. He survived the cruelties of foster care and the brutalities of homelessness and set on a course of healing after joing the United States Navy where he served his country for eleven years.
Antwone has worked in Hollywood for sixteen years as a producer and screenwriter; with an impressive fourteen writing projects with the major studios to his resume. New York Times Best Seller Finding Fish a Memoir, is the inspiring story of his incredible life's journey. The film, Antwone Fisher, based on Fisher's life and written by Fisher himself reflects on Fisher's life as a sailor in the United States Navy and as a child growing up as a ward of the State of Ohio, living in Cleveland.

ASC's 2008 - 2009 BENEFICIARY:
WEDNESDAY'S CHILD BENEFIT CORPORATION
Wednesday's Child Benefit Corporation is the only organization that provides funds to fulfill the specific needs of North Texas foster children when no one else can or will so they are able to have as normal a childhood as possible. As 1 out of every 169 children in North Texas is a foster child, the need for assistance is ever increasing. After being removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect, foster children often have to start their lives over in a new place at a young age.
Wednesday's Child Benefit Corporation steps in to help make their new life in foster care joyful and to ensure that their needs are met. At Wednesday's Child Benefit Corporation the programs are structured to meet the specific needs of foster children. Whether big or small, typical or unusual, they are there to bridge the funding gap and provide North Texas' foster children with the normal childhood experiences they deserve. Some of their programs include assistance in participation in extracurricular activities, tutoring, college scholarships, specialized medical equipment, orthodontics, eyeglasses, emergency clothing and other specialized programs.
