Beneficiary Information

Attorneys Serving the Community (ASC) is an organization of women attorneys who combine their talents to plan, promote and execute a yearly summer benefit luncheon, typically in June, for a Dallas area non-profit organization. ASC's beneficiary for the 2008 luncheon is Vickery Meadow Learning Center. In 2007, the beneficiary was Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council and in the beneficiary 2006 was Family Gateway. Recent past beneficiaries include The Wilkinson Center, Community Partners of Dallas, Gilda's Club of North Texas, and Our Friends' Place. In addition to raising funds, ASC beneficiaries receive substantial exposure to the legal community. Follow this link for a complete list of past beneficiaries.

Important Qualifications or Considerations in the Selection Process

  • The ASC beneficiary must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency benefiting women, children and/or families in the Dallas Metroplex area.
  • It is preferred that the agency have no other fundraising activities between April and August of 2008 or that the agency be willing to reschedule any such events.
  • Agencies with a religious affiliation are not discouraged. However, due to the diverse nature of its membership, it is ASC's policy not to benefit agencies which actively proselytize for any specific religious group.
  • Thought is given to the organization’s ability to effectively partner with ASC in the luncheon planning, including its e-mail capability, computer record-keeping and event planning experience and contacts.

Applications

Beneficiary Applications for the ASC luncheon will be e-mailed (as a Word document). ASC prefers that both Applications and supporting materials be submitted in electronic format. If this is not possible, then the applicant agency is responsible for submitting ten (10) complete hard copies of its application materials.
